Gnome 2.6

April 2, 2004 on 8:51 am | In General |

I usually keep a tab on all things Gnome, but I seem to have missed the release of “Gnome 2.6″:http://www.gnome.org. I could not find any release date. So, maybe it only happened today or yesterday. If yesterday, it could be an April’s Fool gag that they have not yet removed from the website.

UPDATE
Going through the release notes, it seems too intricate to be an April’s Fool gag.

  1. Their webserver was compromised, so they pushed back the release date to the 31st March. I have a feeling that it was only released on the 1st of April though. Well, in my part of the world anyway :P Coz I kept checking the website for the announcement and didn’t see it until the 1st.

I’m now waiting for the FreeBSD port to be available to try it. Meanwhile I’m playing with XFce. It’s fast, a little minimalistic (which isn’t bad really), but a little rough around the edges.
